Bathroom Design With The Concrete Trend

Happy 2019!!! I am kicking off the new year with another bathroom reveal at The Forest Modern! I had a lot of fun designing this bathroom for our son. It’s not a big space but perfect for him when he is home from college. I was going for a masculine vibe with the concrete walls and modern black picket tiles. I’m a big fan of anything concrete and have a feeling it’s going to stick around in the design world for a while. It feels so raw, yet gives a refined look to compliment all the other design elements in the space.

To achieve the “concrete” look I went with porcelain tile that looks and feels like concrete. Definitely the less expensive route and I’m loving the look!

We carried the same concrete look in the shower. I have to say, less grout lines to scrub and clean is winning in my book!

  1. Love. Love, LOVE this bathroom! What is the name of the wall tile you used? It indeed looks so much like concrete…fabulous!

  2. LOVE! Will this flooring works well for larger areas too like a master bath, or more so for small square footage?

  3. Love your home. Can you tell me the “white” paint name and brand you used in the majority of your home please?

  4. Love this space! Great combination of neutral colors and textures. Very nicely done, I’ll bet your son loves it too!

  5. You are so generous answering everyone’s questions about your stunning home. I’m curious the width of your door trim and and your baseboards? I’m also doing white shaker doors did you make the bottom trim of your doors match the base height of your baseboards but make the other 3 sides be a different width.

I’d love to know your thinking here.

    1. Hi Kate! Our door trim is 4″ and baseboards are 12″. We have taller baseboards since our ceilings are 12 ft. I did not modify our shaker doors to match the height of our baseboards. Hope that helps!

  6. Hi there! can you tell me your favorite white paint color for white kitchen cabinets with gold hardware pulls? I’m doing my walls Sherwin Williams pure white and was thinking to keep cabinets same color. Pure white seems to look like a softer white compared to BM Chantilly lace and not yellow like BM simply white. Let me know your thoughts!!

    1. Hi there! I don’t have a particular white paint color for cabinets I recommend, but I can say that Sherwin Williams Pure White is the color we used in our home on our walls and trim. I think it’s a pure, crisp white without the blue/yellow undertones. With that said, white paint can take on a different tone based on the room it is painted in. As with the case of all paint colors. I recommend you try the sample in the room and look for those undertones throughout the day in different lighting. Typically, I try to avoid using two different white paint colors in the same room, especially if they are right next to each other. Hope that helps!

  7. Absolutely beautiful bathroom! Is the counter top a solid white? If so, can you share the brand and color? Thanks.
