Elegant & Spooky Halloween Home Tour
Welcome to our Elegant & Spooky Halloween Home Tour! I’m thrilled to be participating in the Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours Halloween Edition by our fabulous host, Lindsay at The White Buffalo Styling Co. One thing you should know about me if you don’t already is that I LOVE to decorate for Halloween! Like stir-crazy love! It’s my thing and what I look forward to every year as soon as summer comes to a close and the crispness of fall settles in. For those of you visiting from Julie Blanner, welcome!
Halloween decorating is a month long process in our home. There are so many layers and rooms I love to embellish with some elegance, spook and fun curiosities. Every niche and shelf must have a halloween moment. This year I played more into the elegant look of halloween with lots of black and white along with metallic finishes of gold, bronze, mercury glass and a pop of orange.
Every year I pull out all of my black tulle and have fun with it. This DIY tulle wreath was so simple to make. I paired it with an old antique gold frame for an elegant and eery mansion vibe. The mysterious bust is from Homegoods and I fell in love with her at first sight. She greets our guests as they walk through our front door.
An old garden urn with black crow says Halloween don’t you think?
Stepping on into our living room which always speaks drama, especially with our 24 ft tall fireplace.
The weather hit a low of 32 degrees this past week and I was able to turn the fireplace on for the first time this fall season. I love the evenings when the black candles are glowing and the fireplace is burning.
The huge artists name art is perfect for halloween with the bold black font on the antiqued background. I can almost imagine hearing the bats flying up the stone.
I love to use old books and torn out book pages for Halloween. They are one of my top four halloween decorating tips which I wrote about {here}. The Gray’s Anatomy book couldn’t be better for my coffee table as the skeleton hand turns the pages.
I think it’s fair to say I have a collection of skeleton heads. I especially love the sparkly, bedazzled heads. Next weekend we host our annual halloween bash for our friends and neighborhood so you’ll be seeing many more skeletons for that event. I hope you come back to see it!
Moving on into our kitchen. I removed our cabinet doors last year and am loving having these open shelves for more decorating.
Having all boys and I like to creep them out. Actually, I think the spiders and rat creep me out and don’t even phase them. I originally had the spiders climbing up our white cabinets but my son, Ethan, told me they looked odd and not the right size. Hmmm….I really need to hire that kid for my projects. We left the spiders on the smoked glass mirror and now I cringe every time I pass by. I hate spiders.
Most of my fall pumpkins got put away for this tour, except for the glitter & marble swirl minis that seemed perfect for halloween. My rule of thumb, if an accessory looks small, plop it on a cake stand or platter for instant drama.
I told you I love my skeleton heads.
Our eery & elegant halloween table is in the works and I’ll be sharing more of this soon! We are waiting for the family of spooks to arrive first…
If you love spooky and elegant halloween decor as much as I do, then I’d like to invite you to stay tuned for the big halloween bash happening here next week where our basement family room and bar will be transformed into a spooktacular event! You may have seen this area of our home decked out for fall here and here.
Sneak peek…the skeletons are already partying!
Next stop on today’s tour is My Sweet Savannah! Go check out her fabulous home as well as the other blogger’s participating today!
