Fall Porch
Happy Fall! The weather in Colorado is fully cooperating with my mood for fall. The air has a chill and the fog has rolled in early in the mornings. Perfect fall nesting weather for me! I’ve dug out the scarves, flannels, jeans and boots {seems like I just packed those away yesterday!}. My fall porch is ready to welcome my guests. I wish I could invite you all over for some hot cider! It’s pretty cozy and the fireplace will keep you warm. My little greeter, Gucci, is so excited you’re here too!
Don’t worry, he won’t bite, but guaranteed to lick you to death! I’ll let the pictures do the talking since I have a TON to share! Since this is my first fall season getting to take photos and blog about it, I went a little overboard. Grab your hot cider, latte, or pot of coffee {you may need a full pot to get through this tour…hehe!!} Every year I like to do something a little different in my fall decor than the previous year.
Having straw bales are a first for me but I wanted to have a place to rest my pumpkins and displays, so rather than buying an outdoor end table, I went for the cheaper route of $7.25/straw bale. Can’t beat that! Makes me want to go on a hay bale ride!
The wreath was a quick DIY I threw together and you can read more about that here. The large white pumpkins got a little spray paint job. I found these at Hobby Lobby ten years ago. They were the typical pumpkin orange that I had ordained with fall branches over the years. I can’t believe I almost got rid of them since I was tired of the look. Spray painting them white gave them a whole new look! Perfect for the fall/halloween black and white theme I’m going for.
The rug is from Hobby Lobby. I’m fully planning on it getting dingy over the next couple of months, but that’s the point for Halloween around the corner.
The grey pumpkin also was painted. I love having a variety of pumpkin shades, with minimal orange pumpkins this year.
The black and patterned pillow covers are from Hobby Lobby. For $5 each, I was able to turn my summer pillows into fall. These too will probably take a weather beating, but I won’t feel bad tossing them at the end of the year since they were so cheap.
Every outdoor sitting area should have a throw blanket to snuggle up with. I have a thing for plaids lately and am loving this plaid throw from Homegoods.
Self timer candles are another fall necessity giving a warm glow every evening.
In years past, I have bought huge pots of mums to sadly see them die off in less than 2 weeks. I don’t know if it’s me killing them {most likely} or the cold temperature lows here in Colorado Springs. I decided to buy only one mum plant this year and take my chances of not killing it. Oops! I just realized I haven’t watered it!! Excuse me while I go do that real quick!!
Phew! I’m back and it’s still alive! Can I get a big applause?! Carrying on…where were we? Candles. Lots and lots of candles.
Still with me?? Good! We’re almost done!
I tucked some black mesh into the urns with these glitter fall sprigs from Hobby Lobby to add a bit of whimsy to my white pumpkins. I’ll be adding to this look for halloween with some black crows.
Now that I have created a fall setting, I can add my Halloween decor to the mix for the month of October. I can’t wait to get the skeletons and bones, cobwebs, and eery glowing lights set up! I’ll be sharing updates to the patio as it gets all spooked out!
Thank you for stopping by and hanging out on my fall porch. I’ll be inviting you back soon with Halloween around the corner! Follow me on Instagram where you will see more snippets of what I’m working on for fall! Cheers to pumpkins, hay bales, and hot cider!
