Modern Home Bar Oooh La La!

Bar1

The bartender is in…what will you have?!  Welcome to my modern home Bar!  When we built our home five years ago, we left this part of our basement unfinished so that I could later design a fun, modern bar for entertaining.  I had in my mind a chic {sheek}, modern, club vibe bar.  Every year we host a Halloween Bash and I knew that this bar needed to be suitable for this big event.  I wanted a large island space, seating, and a whole lot of lights!!  Oh the lights!!  I will post on this Bar lit up with every color under the rainbow soon!  For now, I’ll let the pictures do the talking! Pour yourself a martini {I prefer lemon drops!} and enjoy!

When I saw this modular art interlocking wall tile I knew I had to have it in my bar!  You would never know that this white wavy wall is actually 12 x 12 interlocking tiles made out of a product called gypsum.  After grouting, sanding, and painting, it looks like a continuous wall of three dimensional waves.  LOVE IT!!  I’ve walked into a few swanky restaurants and bars since my bar design and have seen this same wavy wall in their bars!  That’s the moment when I say, “hey, there’s my wall!”

The design process from the drawing board to total install took six weeks…yikes that was fast!  Careful thought went into designing this space though.  It serves well in function with a microwave, dishwasher, ice maker, two bar fridges, filtered water tap, and disposal.  The cabinets are from IKEA and I couldn’t be happier with the quality and soft close drawer feature!  I have a ton of storage in the deep island drawers which is perfect for storing barware and of course all of my Halloween party platters {did I mention that I LOVE decorating for Halloween!}.  Basically I have a little kitchen right here in my bar and it has been so perfect when hosting parties!

I love to host “girl’s night” out every now and then and this is the perfect spot to have a drink with good friends!  I saved the bar lighting special effects for another blog post. Depending on the night and gathering, you never know what mood light color will be set!  You can see all the BEFORE photos HERE, you won’t believe it’s the same space!
