The BIG reveal of The Forest Modern Outdoor Living

I am soooooo excited to FINALLY be sharing our just completed and the BIG reveal of The Forest Modern outdoor living space!!! You guys! This project has been a tremendous labor of love that the whole family worked on! I did the full design and the hubby and our boys helped bring it to life. They worked so hard prepping the ground work, moving a huge and HEAVY retaining wall (because someone changed her mind after it had already been built. Pointing the finger at myself). I took a gazillion photos because this setting is so gorgeous. Am I right? Seriously, I love our trees and the peaceful, serene forest view.

Before we dive into all the photos, here’s what the area looked like at the beginning of summer. My boys hard at work! We hired out the brick paver install as well as the stone application on the perimeter ledge wall. But, before all that was able to be done, there was a lot of ground leveling, tamping, digging trenches for electrical and gas lines, and perimeter landscaping.

Drumroll…..welcome to my beautiful contemporary, modern, serene outdoor living. The trees smell like fresh pine, the sound of the bubbling rock water feature in the background, and the stillness of this piece of land we call home.

Kodak photobombing. Just a couple of weeks ago we had a bear walk right across this patio! Yikes!

A special thank you to Lighting Design Company for providing these gorgeous pier mount lights by Hinkley. They light up our forest so pretty at night. We have received so many compliments on them already!

Moving on to our covered patio. I love that we can sit out here during the rain and are protected from the elements.

  2. This is absolutely gorgeous! I grew up in Colorado so definitely miss the pines and the smell of the freshness in the air! God bless your home that you may find peace in His nature and presence while spending time on your beautiful patio!
    Well done!

  3. I have been waaaaaiting for this post! We will finally be creating our patio soon! I absolutely LOVE everything that you chose! It is perfection! Thank you for sharing! I know you will enjoy creating so many memories out there!

  4. Wow! What a great space. And your home is stunning as well. You have done an amazing job. I love the word candle holders on the table. Do you know where they are from?

    1. Hi Kim, Thank you for the compliment! The candle holders are from Target, found in their outdoor patio section. I can’t find them online anymore but maybe if you check your local Target they may still have them on clearance.

  5. This is absolutely beautiful! Will you be sharing more about your outdoor Kichen? These always seem difficult to design!

    1. Thanks Karen! I agree, it was a little tricky to design. Ours is pretty basic with a gas grill. The stainless steel doors open up to storage below. We didn’t get too fancy so I probably won’t be sharing anymore on it.

  6. Gorgeous! I swear, you’re living in my dream house! Love what you’ve done! The outdoor living space is just as amazing as the interior.
