#Pinch Me! I’m Going To Haven

Hi friends! Remember last week I mentioned that I kind of blew off postponed an exciting announcement, because I felt pressed to write this heartfelt message {HERE}?  Well today I’m super, duper excited to finally announce that I’m going to Haven next month!  Happy dance going on over here!!

“What is Haven???” you may be asking. That’s what I said a year ago when I first started blogging and had only a handful of blog posts under my belt.

Haven

I remember vividly it was this time last year that I started seeing the buzz on Instagram about the huge, mega blogging event happening in Atlanta. I was so bummed I couldn’t go because of timing and knew it would have been a great opportunity to learn and grow as a newbie blogger.  Haven is a DIY and decorating conference that attracts over 400 bloggers and many sponsors all under one roof.  It’s the macdaddy of blogging conferences!

As soon as tickets went on sale this year, the buzz once again started in my network of blogging/Instagram community and I’m sure the ticket sales were skyrocketing at Haven.  The most exciting part about going is that I finally get to meet so many friends I’ve made through social media and blogland that share the same passion and love for blogging and decorating. I feel like Haven is going to be a weekend full of squealing as I run into all my new friends and meet bloggers I’ve admired for years.

In comes the #pinchme moment

Shortly after I purchased my ticket, I received an email from Haven asking me to be a guest speaker this year.  WHAT????  I’ve never been to Haven, it’s huge, it’s mega, it’s slightly overwhelming, so many bloggers, crazy talented bloggers…..those were the kind of thoughts going through my mind. What an incredibly huge honor for me and although I admit I’m a tad nervous (I give myself a daily pep talk), I’m excited to talk about what I love…design, of course! Even more exciting, I don’t have to do it alone. I’m teaming up with one of my dear blogging friends, Brittany, at Addison’s Wonderland. How fun to be able to teach with her by my side.

{pssst! Brittany, do you think I can fit this sign in my suitcase for props??haha!}

Together we will be teaching a class on design we titled, “Finding Your Own Beautiful.” In today’s world of pinterest image overload, the idea of creating your home to be uniquely YOU can be a bit daunting. I’ll be sharing where I gather design inspiration from and walking you through the steps of learning your own style. We each will be sharing tips on finding that signature style for your home.

From my experience I’ve seen over and over that fear is the number one paralysis to good design. Oh I’ve definitely been quite fearful. I’ll be talking about getting out of the comfort zone a bit (yes, you read that right…”safe decorating” can be boring in my opinion). Sometimes the most unexpected, “wow factor” spaces happen by taking a few design risks and going with your gut.

I can’t wait to meet you all there if you’re reading this and have your Haven ticket! We’re less than a month away!!  I’d also be so interested in hearing what your design questions for me would be. Leave me a comment and let me know!
