Spring Tablescape
As I was photographing my spring tablescape, I looked out the window to see snow falling. Sure doesn’t feel like Spring around Colorado. March and April are the toughest months for me since I am craving warm weather and flip flops. I’m tired of my winter wardrobe and really am just ready to wear shorts and sun dresses! Thankfully I’ll be back at the beach cottage in 14 days (who’s counting) and I’ll get my warm weather fix! Despite the snow flurries outside on this day, my dining table was full of cheer and color! It made me a little more happy and optimistic of warmer days to come.
Tablescapes are so fun to create and a great way to let your imagination run wild. I love to dig through my cabinets for pretty dishes that may have not been used in a long time or even forgotten about. You may recognize my red fur table runner from Christmas {here}. I know it’s not a typical spring color, but it’s been on my table since Christmas and I’m still loving the rich color it brings to my kitchen.
I found these floral cork board placemats at Homegoods last week for every day use. They have the same red in the floral pattern that matches my table runner perfectly!
The spring centerpiece was so fun to make! I’ve always wanted to play around with veggies in a floral display and I figured that spring is the perfect time to try it! You can read all about how I made this colorful vegetable and flower arrangement HERE and the super fun Instagram challenge that was behind it’s creation.
I couldn’t resist these flower napkin rings I found at Pier 1. They come in an array of colors. The linen napkins (similar item) I’ve had for years. The white plates are from Homegoods and are usually displayed on my kitchen plate rack.
Yummy sparkling cucumber and lavender water bottles are also from Homegoods. Don’t they look cute dressed up with the napkin ring? The purple goblets (similar item) are from about fifteen years ago when I was on a purple kick and had purple sofas (true story). I almost gave them away last year but decided to hold on to them just in case. I’m so glad I did because they are perfect for this colorful spring table!
The pineapple decanter is also from Pier 1. I think it’s become my favorite table accessory!
Of course fruit is always an easy way to bring color to any tablescape. I told the boys not to eat the grapefruit until I took photos! haha!
What I love most about this spring tablescape is that I was able to repurpose items I already had on hand (table runner, plates, linen napkins, goblets, fruit bowls, tray, white flower vase). The placemats were a new purchase for the sake of daily use. You should have seen our old ones. They lasted for eight years but had definitely seen better days. The floral napkin rings gave me the fun idea to get creative and DIY my own new set. I’ll let you know how those turn out later! But in the meantime, I only purchased four for this setting but will definitely be needing more.
